TWO-PART BILINGUAL SERMON SERIES! For the next tw TWO-PART BILINGUAL SERMON SERIES!

For the next two weeks, we are starting a new sermon series AND our services will be bilingual! We encourage you to invite any Korean-speaking friends you have.

Life is ridden with disappointments. Because of this, people may have told you to lower your expectations so that you won’t be disappointed. If you’ve tried it, you’ve probably realized it’s impossible to do.

To tell your heart to have no expectations (and therefore no hope) is essentially to tell your heart to stop beating because hope is what keeps it beating.

These next two Sundays, we’ll look at how God desires for us to deal with disappointment so that our hearts can still be full of hope.

Exciting News!!! This past Sunday, we had our fir Exciting News!!!

This past Sunday, we had our first informational meeting as we prepare to soft launch the Korean-speaking ministry!

We are excited to have our first ever bilingual services on Palm Sunday (4/10) and Easter Sunday (4/17).

Gospel City was planted six years ago with the vision to serve and love the country we live in, Korea. We desire to see these two communities come together to worship and celebrate what Jesus has done for us this Easter season. These services will be a launching point to building a Korean-speaking community at Gospel City.

Please join us in praying for these Sundays, and we also want to encourage you to invite your Korean speaking friends and co-workers to join us in worship on Palm and Easter Sunday (interpretation will be provided).

If you have any questions, email Pastor Shawn at shawn@thegospelcity.org.
//Redemptive History// The Bible can be a confusin //Redemptive History//
The Bible can be a confusing book. It can seem to be a mixture of random historical stories, some poetry, and holding the rules to God and life. Most read the Bible without understanding the grand narrative of the Bible, how it is a united and coherent story of God’s work of redemption. By understanding this, you will come to see through every page of Scripture, the character and faithfulness of God, the fullness of Jesus and his work, and your place in the biblical story.

Pastor Joel will teach this class on Tuesdays from 7:30-9:30 on Google Meet. This 7-week class will start on March 22nd. To sign up, email Pastor Joel at joel@thegospelcity.org.

//Foundations of Christianity//
Are you new to Christianity and want to learn more about the core beliefs? Or have you been attending church for a while and want to strengthen the foundations of your faith? Then sign up for our 6-week course Foundations of Christianity.

In this class, we will go over a systematic understanding of Biblical doctrine. Having this understanding not only helps us as we read and study God’s word, it is also essential for a healthy, secure walk with God.

Join us every Monday night from 8:00-9:30PM on Google Meet beginning March 21.

To sign up, email Pastor Shawn at shawn@thegospelcity.org.
We’re so excited to announce to you a new minist We’re so excited to announce to you a new ministry! We’re launching a Live Free, a grace-based recovery group.

At Gospel City, we are all about Jesus and all about people. We understand that life can get messy and addiction is a painful struggle for many of us. As a church, we want you to know that you are not alone, and we want to help bring Jesus into the darkest places of our lives to restore us.

Live Free is a grace-based recovery group where the church can walk together in the light and find freedom from unwanted harmful behaviors. We are a confidential and safe community where people can share, encourage, and pray for each other with whatever they’re struggling with. If you are struggling with alcohol/substance abuse, pornography, sexual sin, gaming, social media, gambling or any other unwanted harmful behavior, we want to help. Email us at livefree@thegospelcity.org.
Tomorrow is Election Day for Korea and as a church Tomorrow is Election Day for Korea and as a church, we would like to pray for Korea and the elections. Please pray with us:

1. Pray for the elections and the leadership of Korea. We acknowledge that the ruling power of a nation impacts the life of many people. We ask for God’s mercy and grace over the new government that will be established, that there will be humility and care for the people.
2. Pray for God’s people to be put in strategic places to be salt and light in the government. Pray for the work of the Gospel to go forth so that those who don’t know Christ will come to know Him, whether it be candidates or people involved in politics.

(Prayer topics provided by Pastor Shin)

ENCOUNTERING CHRIST IN THE PSALMS: A LENTEN JOURNE ENCOUNTERING CHRIST IN THE PSALMS: A LENTEN JOURNEY

During this Lenten Season, we will be using a Lenten Devotional provided by Biola University Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts, entitled, the Lent Project: a 53-day aesthetically guided meditation on Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.
——

Today, we begin the Season of Lent. We know many of you may not be familiar with this season. Lent provides followers of Christ space to intentionally walk with Jesus as we anticipate Easter. While we are pulled in many directions, Christians use this season to center our hearts to deepen the reality of what Christ has done to redeem our brokenness.

James K.A. Smith gives helpful insight into how these deliberate activities shape our hearts. He writes, “Jesus is a teacher who doesn’t just inform our intellect but forms our very loves. He isn’t content to simply deposit new ideas into your mind; he is after nothing less than your wants, your loves, your longings.” Furthermore, he writes, "Liturgies aim our love to different ends precisely by training our hearts through our bodies.” We do not engage in such seasons simply for the sake of tradition. No, that's just religiosity. We intentionally engage in Lent to allow God, through the Holy Spirit, to shape our affections for him.
