Last week we had our first Friday Worship & Prayer

Last week we had our first Friday Worship & Prayer Night of 2023! It was a blessed evening of songs, prayer, and fellowship. Thanks to all who came out.

Living in Seoul can be busy and full of distractions. We hope our Friday Worship & Prayer Night’s will be a chance for us to slow down, sing, and pray together as a church. Our next gathering will be on March 31. Hope to see you there!

Psalm 120-134 is a collection of psalms that pilgrims would sing and pray as they ascended to Jerusalem for the major Jewish festivals. These 15 psalms cover a wide range of situations and emotions that represent the spiritual journey for the believer. And ultimately, they point us to Christ who leads, provides and sustains us on that journey. Join us as we study these psalms to guide us through the new year and many more to come.

The song we’ve been singing during the Advent season, The First Noel (Born Is the King) by @sovgracemusic is now translated into Korean and officially approved. Thanks #sovereigngrace for giving us the opportunity to translate.
Our goal for the Korea Worship Project is to translate gospel-centered, biblically rich worship songs into Korean as a resource for the Korean community.

PASTOR JOEL SEND OFF
This past Sunday was another historic day at Gospel City as we said farewell to Pastor Joel Yoon, our founding and lead pastor.

Almost exactly seven years ago, Pastor Joel stepped out in faith and planted Gospel City Church. And throughout the years, through all the valleys and peaks, he remained faithful and obedient to the call. God has used P.Joel’s love, service, and sacrifice to this church to make Gospel City what it is today.

It was a sad day for Gospel City. But we know that it is God who has called P.Joel to leave Gospel City and return to the U.S. It is God calling him to a new chapter in life, and we send him off with our love and prayers.

P.Joel, you have faithfully preached the gospel and touched countless lives. We thank you. We love you. We will be praying for you. Farewell.

NEW LEAD PASTOR INSTALLATION SERVICE
Yesterday was a historic day at Gospel City. On November 6th, 2022, Pastor Shawn Seiler was installed as the next Lead Pastor for Gospel City Church. We celebrated and welcomed P. Shawn as the new lead pastor. But even more, it was a day where we spent a moment thanking the Lord for his provision.

In March, Gospel City started the search for a new lead pastor. This was not a surprise for God. We recognize that it was the Lord that planted Gospel City. It is the Lord that has been moving in this season of transition. And it is the Lord that also knew he would provide a new lead pastor.

So we share in these words written in Genesis 35:3, “Then let us arise and go up to Bethel, so that I may make there an altar to the God who answers me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.” Gospel City, let us arise and worship our God who answers us in the day of distress and will be with us wherever we go.

Pastor Shawn Seiler, we will pray Jeremiah 3:15 over your ministry - “And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” May you always be a shepherd that pursues the heart of God, and who will feed Gospel City with knowledge and understanding.

We are completely heartbroken. This past weekend, right outside the space where Gospel City used to worship, at least 154 people lost their lives. This was our backyard.

All past and present Gospel City members, please join us in prayer.

1. Pray for the families and friends of those affected
2. Pray for strength, wisdom and discernment for all the responders and next steps (counselors, colleagues, hospitals, police, government)
3. Pray that the church would use this tragedy to love, to care, and bring hope to the city
4. Pray that through this tragedy, we would look to Christ, and be reminded that He shares in our lament

Hey Gospel City!! Gospel City Fall Retreat is back after two years of hiatus. As we enter into the routine of church life as we had pre-pandemic, we hope to see the church become strong and vibrant! So join us on our 5th retreat, O Church, Arise! It’s the one time in the year where we have an extended time together as a community to be strengthened in the Lord. Korea Worship Project is back! This time, we bring you a bilingual cover of "The Blessing"! Its official Korean translation is already starting to be known in Korea. I hope this music will reflect the glimpse of the universal church of our Jesus Christ that works over borders and languages, and remind you God's blessing that He blesses us, keeps us, surrounds us, and He is for us.

This Sunday, we begin our new summer series, “Moving Forward.” This will be 7-week study in the first five chapters of the book of Joshua. After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, Joshua and the Israelites now prepare to enter the land God had promised them. As we observe God’s faithfulness to His people and His promises, we hope to be strengthened and encouraged for our journey as we move forward to the true final rest promised to us.
