  • that GCC will continue to be a blessing to Seoul and Korea (2 Corinthians 9:8)

<For the Assistant Pastor Search Process>

  • For the pastoral search committee
    • May the Lord grant the committee wisdom to discern his will for GCC
      • For the LORD gives wisdom;
        from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding;
        he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
        he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
        guarding the paths of justice
        and watching over the way of his saints. (Proverbs 2:6-8)
  • For the candidates
    • May the interview process be mutually edifying and encouraging for everyone involved
      • Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
    • For the Spirit’s guidance and confirmation as the candidates seek God’s will for their next steps
      • Commit your works to the LORD,
        and your plans will be established. (Proverbs 16:3)

<For the Future Assistant Pastor>

  • May he be a man of faith, humility, and integrity
    • The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
  • May he promote unity and love among GCC staff
    • Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. (Romans 12:9-10)
  • May he lead and shepherd GCC with Christ-likeness
    • So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:1-5)
  • May he be equipped to build GCC to become more effective
    • And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, (Ephesians 4:11-13)
